Kentucky REAL ESTATE
Continuing Education
To keep your Kentucky license active, real estate agents must complete continuing education hours. However, if you’re a new agent, you’ll need to complete Post-licensing Education found here within two years of obtaining your license.

Kentucky CORE
REQUIRED EVERY 4 YEARS
The courses must be sponsored or approved by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC). Kentucky requires a state-specific continuing education course (the Kentucky Core Course) to be completed by all active licensees subject to continuing education once every four years.
Be sure to check when your next one is due, click below to check your status!
For instance: If a licensee completes a Kentucky Core course (6 law hours) and an ethics course (3 elective hours) in 2023, totaling nine (9) hours of education, they will only need to complete three (3) elective hours of continuing education in 2024 to maintain compliance.

How It Works

Step 1
Determine Your Kentucky Requirements
Ask yourself, “When did I last complete the Kentucky CORE course?” Note: that course is due every 4 years. See our course, here.
If you are a REALTOR®, check with your local association to see if you need to complete the NAR Ethics requirement this year.
Make sure you take enough law hours. Click here to view the requirements. Then check your current status on the KREC website, here.

Step 2
Enroll with Ease & Learn at Your Own Pace
Once you’ve selected your courses, proceed to checkout. Enroll with ease—our variety of payment options makes it simple to get started. Your enrollment will be processed within 1-2 business days, if not sooner.
Once processed, your order status will change from “Processing” to “Complete,” and you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions to log in to your student portal.
Once you log in to your portal, you’ll have the flexibility to learn at your own pace. Our convenient online format allows you to study on your schedule, with the ability to revisit materials as often as needed to fully grasp each topic.

Step 3
Review & Understand Requirements
Important: Kentucky requires students enrolled in online courses to:
- Complete an affidavit.
- Pass a final exam (with 3 attempts allowed).
- Complete a course survey upon finishing the course.
All of these requirements are integrated seamlessly into our courses.
Please note, Kentucky law limits students to a maximum of 9 hours of coursework per day, and this rule is strictly enforced.

Step4
Reporting and Completion
Upon completing, we electronically report your completion to KREC within 1-2 business days. In December, we provide daily reporting during standard business hours to help you meet end-of-year requirements—excluding weekends and holidays.
For your records, a completion certificate will be emailed to the address you registered with within 7 business days.
Side Note: After While schools are required to report to KREC within 10 days, we prioritize timely reporting and strive to deliver your completion information much faster than our competitors, ensuring you stay on track and don’t lose your license. There’s no need to mail your completion certificate to KREC—we manage everything from enrollment to completion to ensure a seamless experience.
REVIEWS
Requirements
To comply with KREC regulations, you will need to complete an online affidavit, take the online final exam, and complete the course survey at the end. Students are not allowed to complete more than 9 hours of coursework per day.
Continuing Education
Under KRS 324.046, licensees must complete a total of twelve (12) hours of continuing education during each biennial license period. Of these, six (6) hours must be in KREC approved law courses. All licensees, unless otherwise exempt, shall complete the mandatory continuing education requirement by December 31 of each calendar year. Additionally, six (6) hours must be completed by December 31 of the first year of the renewal period, including three (3) hours in law. Licensees who complete more than six (6) hours during the first year of the renewal period can carry over any excess hours toward the second year.
Rule of thumb: If you complete six (6) hours of continuing education each year, including three (3) hours in law credit approved by KREC, you generally won’t need to stress about your annual requirements. However, remember that Kentucky mandates all active licensees to complete a state-specific continuing education course—the Kentucky Core Course—once every four (4) years.
NAR Ethics Requirement (REALTORS® Only)
KREC does not require ethics, the National Association of REALTORS does for those who are members. For more information go here and make sure to contact your local board on your status.
Reporting & Completion
Course completions are electronically reported to KREC within 1-2 business days upon completion. A completion certificate, for your records only, will be emailed to the address you registered with within 7 business days of course completion. School’s are required to electronically report to KREC within 10 days, but we report consistently, unlike other providers.
In December we report to KREC on a daily basis, excluding weekends and holidays. Completions by 4:00 pm EST will be reported that same business day. Completions outside of those hours will be reported the next business day.
In accordance with regulatory rules, providers will not receive additional time for reporting. Licensees who take courses after December 21st of the calendar year may face license cancellation and a $1,000 fine from KREC, as stipulated by the regulation. There are no exceptions to this policy. We strongly advise all licensees to complete all required education before December 21 to ensure reporting occurs prior to December 31.
We require you to provide your current license number when enrolling for reporting purposes. If you can’t remember or find your license number, click here.
Access & Enrollment
Access is granted for six months from the date of enrollment. You may review any part of the course within the 6-month access period, even after receiving your certificate of completion. Your course completion date determines the year in which credit will be issued.
Your enrollment will be processed within 1-2 business days, if not sooner. Once processed, your order status will change from “Processing” to “Complete,” and you’ll receive a confirmation email with instructions to log in to your student portal.
Course Cancellation
If you withdraw from the course within 7 days of purchase, you will receive a full refund. However, if more than half of the course has been completed, no refund will be granted. After 7 days, no refunds are available. To withdrawal from an enrollment written notice must be submitted to us by email at info@arecareeracademy.com. The cancellation date is when the written notice is received.
