It’s the very first step in your journey to becoming a real estate professional. In Kentucky, pre-licensing means completing 96 hours of approved coursework (or equivalent college credits), passing the licensing exam, and meeting a few other state requirements. Once you’ve finished this stage, you’re officially ready to apply for your license and start your career.

To become a licensed real estate professional in Kentucky, you must meet the following qualifications:
  • – 18 Years of Age
  • – Obtained High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalency
  • – Completed Real Estate Education, options below:
    Complete Ninety-six (96) hours of Real Estate Pre-licensing Education from an Approved Provider (Hint: we have you covered!) – OR – Six (6) Academic Credit Hours From College or University in Real Estate Courses
  • – Complete Criminal Background Check
  • – Pass PSI Real Estate License Exam
  • – Apply For A License

Step 1

To begin your journey with the Kentucky 96 hour pre license course, select one of the available packages that suit your needs. After making your choice, you will complete the enrollment application.

Once submitted, your enrollment will be processed within 1-2 business days, and your FOXBOX will be mailed to you.

Step 2

As part of your program, you will engage in a comprehensive course that covers essential real estate principles and Kentucky license law.

In addition to the coursework, you will also complete a scenario-based project that applies your learning to real-world situations. This project will help solidify your understanding before you proceed to the next step.

Step 3

After finishing the course and the project, you will take a proctored final exam online to assess your knowledge. Passing this exam qualifies you to schedule the PSI licensing exam.

Keep in mind, this is not the same as the licensing exam—it’s a crucial step in your educational process.

Step 4

As part of the licensing requirements, you must undergo a criminal background check. This involves completing your fingerprints, which will be submitted to the appropriate authorities for review.

Step 5

It’s now time to schedule your PSI licensing exam (PSI Sales Associate Licensing Exam). We recommend setting your exam date a few weeks in advance to give yourself ample time to study.

The licensing exam consists of both national and state components, so you must be prepared to review material from both areas. The exam can not be taken until all education requirement are completed and a completion certificate was received.

Step 6

Dedicate time to study for the PSI licensing exam. Utilize the resources provided in your program, review your notes, and practice sample questions to ensure you are well-prepared for the exam. Click here for any additional study tools.

Step 7

Passing the PSI Sales Associate Licensing Exam, which includes both national and state components, is a major milestone in your journey. Successfully completing the exam qualifies you to apply for your Kentucky real estate license, paving the way to start your career as a licensed real estate professional.

After passing the PSI licensing exam, you will need to apply for your real estate sales associate license with the Kentucky Real Estate Commission (KREC).

Access
All students will have 6 months to complete their course from the date of purchase.

Extensions
Extensions can be purchased in 30-day increments, up to a total of 12 months. We reserve the right to deny extensions for courses undergoing version changes or termination.

Attendance
Attendance and participation is crucial for achieving course objectives. All attendance and work completed will be tracked. Attendance is recorded through your login, progress reports and documentable participation, actively progressing through milestones and progress benchmarks. You must complete your course and proctored exam within the the access period. A completion certificate will not be issued until all requirements are met.

Compliance
To earn a completion certificate, students must login to the Learning platform, complete all required coursework, course affidavit, final projects and pass the proctored final exam. Please note, the proctored final exam is not the PSI licensing exam. You must pass the course exam before taking the PSI licensing exam; otherwise, the licensing exam will be omitted.
